Hi, all! Here's what I've been working on.

I'm still trying to get the final three Paragons books finished. My first 4 audiobooks should soon be ready. And I'm working on a new series.

Paragons. Books 4-6 are all plotted and partially written. Book 4 is polished up through the first few episodes. Work has been a bit slow due to the other things I'm working on at the same time.

Audiobooks. All are full-cast, dramatized. Phoenix Dynasty Books 1 & 2 are fully edited, and I'm about to proof what are hopefully the final versions of these audiobooks. I'm supposed to get Paragons 1 tomorrow and Paragons 2 in the coming days from the studio. The audiobooks are taking longer than expected due to technical hiccups, some actor issues, and just because full-cast audiobooks are like TV shows and have so much more complexity than simple narrator readings. This means I've already listened to these books several times already, each audiobook listen requiring 2+ full work days on my end to check for issues. I'm hoping all the issues have finally been fixed and these audiobooks will be ready for release soon. 🤞 I'm told the Immortal Legacy series (all 3 books) has been recorded and now all the actors' parts need to be put together.

New Series. I won't spoil the surprise right now, but I'm excited about it. It's requiring some pretty complex, detailed pre-planning to make the books work together.

Other. I'll go back to writing the next Phoenix Dynasty books once the Paragons books are done. And, regarding audio, I've had a load of questions about Legion of Angels (LoA). That is an enormous project, so we need to get some (or all) of the current 7 audio projects finished before we dive into LoA audio. Hopefully, we've worked out most of the kinks in the process by now, so it will go smoothly.

Here are a few quick photos I took of the first paperback proof I got in the mail.

More photos to come when I get the versions with the sprayed edges.

An update for December. Things have been crazy-busy. I'm trying to get a bunch of things finished, so I'll be brief. Here's what's happening:

https://www.ellasummers.com/december-2025-update-on-upcoming-books-and-audiobooks/

Summary: we've moved countries (again) and some updates on my upcoming books/audiobooks.

Plans for today: I will be listening to some more chapters of the edited Firestone Fantasy audiobook and preparing my comments for the producer. And maybe trying to sleep a little. During the move, I must have caught something because I'm not feeling completely well.

Enjoy the holidays!

Hi, all!

I've had a lot going these past few weeks. As as result of some unwanted drama, I've had to rearrange my publishing schedule. Here's the quick version.

The "drama" involves a voice actor on one of the audiobook projects misbehaving (violating contracts with my publisher and a bunch of other companies/organizations), which has landed in a big hot mess on my already-overflowing plate. To secure the future of all audiobooks in that series, I am now prioritizing writing the remaining books in the Paragons series, so we can get all that recorded asap before something else happens.

The Paragons series will be 6 books. 3 books are done. The remaining 3 books are all outlined in detail and in various stages of writing. Unfortunately, this means Diamond Dragon, the next Phoenix Dynasty book and what was supposed to be my next release, has to be pushed back.

Once the final 3 Paragons books are done (hopefully in the next few months), I can write the audiobook scripts for them. Then they can be recorded, edited, and released as audiobooks. I'm likely holding off on releasing the audiobooks until we at least have all the actors' parts recorded for all books in the series in order to ensure consistency. No one wants us to have to change any of the actors mid-series because of shenanigans. Lately, it feels like shenanigans are growing like weeds all around me.

Once I've finished writing the remaining Paragons books, I will go back to Phoenix Dynasty. I will then prioritize writing all the Phoenix Dynasty books because the first audiobooks in the series are also in production. There hasn't been much audiobook craziness in that series (unlike poor Paragons, which has seen nothing but drama since the project began), but after all that's happened, I'm paranoid something will come up.

The Legion of Angels and Immortal Legacy audiobook projects (both complete series) are for the most part unaffected by all of this, except a slight delay in LoA since I don't have as much time to work on the scripts at the moment.

Speaking of Immortal Legacy, I'll try to post the third new story this weekend, so keep an eye out for that.

Happy Halloween and have a great weekend!

Hey, guys. Things are even busier than usual for me, mainly due to the audiobooks (more on that below). I will be posting the next Angels & Gods episode, hopefully tomorrow and otherwise early Monday. This will be Episode 6: The Evergreen Shield.

So what's up with the audiobooks, and why are they keeping me so busy? No, I'm not recording or editing them myself. 😉 I have a pro studio taking care of that.

Over the course of the next year, I'll be getting about half of my catalogue of books into audio (others books will come later). We're doing full-cast immersive audio.

Paragons 1 & 2 and Phoenix Dynasty 1 & 2 are already in production. They're be done in the next few months.

Legion of Angels (complete series: 13 books) and Immortal Legacy (complete series: 3 books) are in pre-production.

For full-cast immersive audiobooks, you can't use the book text as-is. They require scripts, or the flow is terrible. Trust me, I've tried it with just the book text, and it doesn't work at all.

This means I need to turn all the books into scripts. I am doing this personally in order to preserve the integrity of the books. These are mostly minor modifications like cutting superfluous dialogue tags (he said, she said, etc.), which you don't need when there are different actors voicing different characters. In fact, you don't want them, particularly in my books which have fast-paced banter; the tags break the flow.

The problem is time. This doesn't take as much time as writing a new book obviously, but it does take time. And writing a script is a different skill and way of thinking from writing a novel.

Legion of Angels alone is something around 1.1 million words. That means I need to go through 1.1 million words of book text and covert it into scripts. Twice. Once to modify and once to check the flow with the modifications and make any necessary changes.

Immortal Legacy, for which I already completed the scripts, is another couple hundred thousand words. I also wrote 3 new bonus stories to go along with the series in preparation for the audiobooks.

The Paragons and Phoenix Dynasty books are generally ~80k-90k words per book, and there are 4 of them currently in production. They sound awesome so far, btw.

As you can see, all the time spent on writing scripts really adds up. I also have a lot of actor auditions to listen to. Legion of Angels alone has over 300 characters. The production studio is helping a lot with the casting, but I do need to listen to and decide on the important characters myself in order to give you guys the best possible audiobooks. There are a lot of important characters in LoA.

And I need to listen to the edits of the audiobooks, often several times as changes are made. Immersive audiobooks are much more involved than a simple reading, but they will be amazing.

In summary: these audiobooks are getting a lot of TLC from the author. 😊

So if you're wondering why I sometimes fall into a blackhole of work or I'm otherwise kind of slow to finish some projects at the moment, this is why.

Thanks for all your patience!

❤️ Ella
